Check Out My Cards: Want List Destruction (Part 2)

Yesterday, I posted the first part of my recent Check Out My Cards purchase where I put a serious dent in my want list.  I'm nowhere near done with the package yet though, so let's see what else I was able to acquire.

For some reason, I decided to hit the 1999 Fleer Ultra set hard.  Prior to my purchase, I needed 16 cards to finish off my set.

And now?

Count 'em.  That's all 16 that I needed.  And seriously, how about those Prospects cards?!  Don't they simply SCREAM nineties to you?  They even have the old Netscape Navigator file look down...speaking of Netscape, whatever happened to that?

Also, how in the name of all that is holy have I gotten hundreds of trade packages with random Reds thrown in and yet never received the card of Mike Frank?!  That's mind boggling, and I know it wasn't because Frank is some sort of super valuable card (it was 84 cents on COMC).

Looking back on the 1999 Fleer Ultra set, I will say that the regular base cards are quite awesome (lots of great photographs).  The Propects cards are kind of lame, and certainly cheesy, but I'm still glad to finally have the entire set put together (and knocked off my want list).  That leaves me chasing only three more sets from 1999...

Still a lot of work to do, but progress is progress!

The pile of Fleer Ultra cards was clearly the largest pile from any one set...but in my next post I promise to show off some more interesting cards that I bought for some other sets that I'm working on (including some nice minis and an oversized box loader)!  Stay tuned, more goodies yet to come.
